Dublin open mike night

The Ha'Penny Inn's Tuesday night open mic was a cultural experience like I've never had before. The crowd is a mix of Swedes, Canadians, Dubliners, Linerickians, and a dark and mysterious man named Frank.

This open mic was on-par with some of the new-talent showcases I've seen at Rooster T Feathers - some hit-or-miss performers, but an amazing overall experience that I'd gladly repeat.

We'd wandered the streets looking for one of two things: a bar with an activity (like pool or darts), or a place where we could just listen to Irish people talk.  We didn't want a guided tour of anything, although that may have fit the bill, so a comedy night hit the spot right on. The fresh Irish Guiness was an excellent bonus, if not a pleasantly minded necessity for our first evening out.

Another side note, Chrome Angels (2009) was an awesome B-movie that needs a drinking game with it.  I'm not going to spoil the plot, mostly because I couldn't follow the Italian dub, but I couldn't turn it off.  It has just enough explosions and special effects in the climax to make it worthwhile.  Gotta love hotel television.
